Get the mammal—that’s the game’s goal. Dromaeosaurs play it in pairs. It’s a game of suspense. Who will pounce first? Who will grip the mammal in their jaws first? Will one Deinonychus outrun the other? Will the mammal wriggle free and need to be re-caught? During the chase, will one tear the prey from the other’s teeth? And who will succumb to the swallowing instinct first? The game lasts until that last question is answered.
